MUTIPLE FACULTY POSITIONS IN CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
Towards the goal of substantially expanding and enriching ongoing research programs, the University of Minnesota Medical School-Duluth (http://www.med.umn.edu/duluth/) invites applications for three school-wide, full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty positions with a research emphasis in cardiovascular diseases. This is a School-wide search and spans all biomedical science disciplines. Applicants are required to have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and to demonstrate research productivity in the area of cardiovascular disease with special emphasis on diseases endemic to rural and/or Native American populations. Examples include but are not limited to heart disease, hypertension, and atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular disease including stroke and dementia, as well as contributing risk factors for cardiovascular disease such as diabetes, obesity and addiction. Candidates for assistant professor must have post-doctoral experience leading to peer-reviewed publications and demonstrate high potential for establishing an independent and productive funded research program. Candidates for associate professor must have a well-established research program as reflected by a record of publication, a proven ability to obtain extramural research funding and the qualifications to satisfy the tenure criteria of the University of Minnesota Medical School-Duluth. All applicants are required to possess essential verbal and written communication skills. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of demonstrated research productivity as evidenced by quality of publication record and grant support. Preferential consideration will be given to applicants with research expertise that is complementary to ongoing research programs in the Duluth medical community with strong potential for collaboration. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Medical School’s educational programs and provide service to the School and the profession. Tenure Track/Tenured Faculty Positions
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo under the leadership of the newly appointed Chair, Dr. Margarita L. Dubocovich, will recruit six tenure track faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. All positions are 12-month fully funded state appointments. The University at Buffalo (UB), the most comprehensive center for professional education, training and research within the 64-campus State University of New York (SUNY) system and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU), is implementing the UB2020 strategic plan that will grow its faculty, staff and student population by as much as 40% by 2020.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Successful candidates should have strong interest and/or experience in the pharmacological and toxicological sciences to undertake research in drug discovery and targeted therapeutic approaches to diseases and/or environmental health science. Research interests in one or more of the following areas are preferable: neuropharmacology, receptors, molecular recognition and signal transduction, drugs of abuse, circadian biology, neuroscience, endocrinology, cardiovascular, metabolism and membrane transport, cancer and developmental pharmacology/toxicology. Faculty will be expected to develop funded research programs and participate in educational activities and teaching of pharmacology and toxicology, as well as service to the University. Mentorship to strengthen academic, research and grantsmanship skills will be available.
STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES: In addition to modern well-designed laboratory space, there are cutting edge research cores in many areas, including genomics, proteomics, microscopy/imaging, macromolecular crystallization, and transgenic animals. Diverse opportunities for collaboration also exist at nearby Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, the New York Center of Excellence for Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, the Research Institute on Addictions and the Center for Excellence in PK/PD in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENT: Buffalo has unique characteristics, which make it an ideal place to live and work. Buffalo, called “The City of Good Neighbors,” is the second largest city in New York State. Senior Research Biologist or Research Fellow
Department of Cardiovascular Diseases

An outstanding scientist is needed to serve as a lab head within the in vivo atherosclerosis or hypertension research group in the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases. The individual will supervise 1-3 technical level scientists and interact with multidisciplinary teams(s) consisting of molecular biologists, biochemists, physiologists, pharmacologists and medicinal chemists.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Familiarity and experience with systems physiology and pharmacology which relates to the pathogenesis of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis or hypertension.
2. Background in aspects of integrative physiology or in vivo pharmacology is essential with a preferred emphasis on expertise in conducting animal studies to investigate the regulation of lipid biology or intermediary metabolism or blood pressure regulation. A working knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology is also desirable.
3. A PhD degree with a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience in an academic institution or in the biotech. or pharmaceutical industries.
4. An exceptional publication record and excellent spoken and written English communication skills are essential, as are strong interpersonal skills.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Establishment and validation of new rodent or large animal models of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis or blood pressure regulation. Conducting in vivo mechanistic studies and the assessment of novel compounds using in vivo animal trials for selected anti-lipid or hypertension targets.
2. Target validation and proof-of-concept studies using both in vitro and in vivo systems.
3. Coordination and prioritization of drug discovery efforts in support of program objectives.
4. Serve as the in vivo representative on program teams. Be an active participant in overall scientific direction of program(s) with input into component aspects that include molecular biology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, drug metabolism, bioinformatics, and gene array techniques.
5. Data analyses and interpretation.

Department Head of Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Sciences
The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical & Biomedical Sciences from individuals with experience, vision and leadership in drug discovery/drug development. The Department currently has twenty-one faculty members with expertise in diverse areas, including medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, molecular pharmacology, systemic pharmacology, drug delivery, drug targeting, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, biochemistry and X-ray crystallography. The Department also supports a strong graduate training program, with more than fifty students. The College anticipates completion of a new building, adjacent to the present structure which will provide an additional 93,000 gross square feet of new state-of-the-art teaching and research space in Summer 2009. There are also substantial future opportunities to grow. A new medical school, to be jointly operated by the Medical College of Georgia and UGA, will be located in Athens with the first class entering in 2010. The College of Pharmacy is expected to play a key role in this endeavor. The College also hosts a Center for Drug Discovery that provides a focal point for establishing new state-wide research interactions.

The successful candidate should be a dynamic individual with a major research interest in drug discovery/development related sciences, including but not limited to synthetic medicinal chemistry, combinatorial chemistry/high throughput screening, bioinformatics, pharmacogenomics, structural biology, computer-assisted drug design, pharmaceutics or molecular & biochemical pharmacology. The candidate should have experience and vision in drug discovery/development as well as leadership in managing the Department and a strong commitment to instruction and mentoring. The candidate is also expected to be an internationally recognized leader in the field with established records of federal and/or private extramural support. Furthermore, the successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability for working in interdisciplinary teams consonant with intent to take the College to the next level of biomedical research.

Tenure Track Position in The School of Pharmacy

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Faculty of Medicine, School of Pharmacy.  A tenure track faculty position is available at the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics of The School of Pharmacy.
Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D., MD or a PhD/MD degree and postdoctoral training in pharmacology and/or related fields. Excellence in research is a major factor for consideration by the search committee.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program based on competitive external funding in the field of pharmacology. The candidate is expected to engage, early on after acceptance, in teaching in Hebrew undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of pharmacology (preferably in cardiovascular pharmacology), and supervise M.Sc. and Ph.D. students.

Assistant/Associate Professors of Pharmacology
Creighton University School of Medicine
The newly expanded Department of Pharmacology in the Creighton University School of Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning in the fall of 2007, or thereafter. We seek outstanding scientists with a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in pharmacology or a related area.
