  • Two NIH-funded postdoctoral research positions are available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Xinxin Ding for studies on the function and regulation of drug-metabolism enzymes. The candidate can potentially work in one or more of the following areas: 1) To generate and characterize novel P450 transgenic and knockout mouse models; 2) To determine in vivo functions of mouse and human P450 genes in drug metabolism, adverse drug reactions, neurodegeneration, and chemical carcinogenesis; 3) To study epigenetic regulation of human P450 genes in cultured cells and transgenic mouse models; and 4) Functional characterization of genetic polymorphisms in drug-metabolism genes. One of our long-term goals is to identify genetic as well as environmental factors that predispose human subpopulations to adverse drug reactions or other forms of chemical toxicity, including neurodegeneration and carcinogenesis. A strong background in at least one of the following areas is desirable: drug metabolism, analytical chemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, genomics, biotechnology, gene regulation, and epigenetics.
